With the launch of the Jersey Sustainable Action Plan in November 2024, IoD Jersey is delighted to welcome our diverse panel of industry leaders as they delve into an informed and interesting discussion that will inspire industry to take action so that we can collectively drive impactful change. The plan sets ambitious goals for;
- Identifying and managing Risk and Governance
- Market Incentives
- Enhancing International Engagement for Jersey
All these areas within the framework have been identified as contributing to reducing emissions, fostering innovation, and building a greener economy.
A facilitated panel discussion will take place followed by an open floor debate where participants can join the discussion.

Andrew Mitchell Bio
Andrew Mitchell has spent a lifetime at the frontline of tropical forest conservation and is an international thought leader on sustainable finance, climate change and forests. Andrew is the former Vice Chair of the Stewardship Council of the TNFD, a global initiative he co-founded with UNDP, WWF, Global Canopy and UNEP-FI. He engages with banks, investors and insurers worldwide on emerging regulations, reporting and disclosure. As Founder and Senior Adviser to Global Canopy, one of the world’s leading providers of ‘data for nature’, he helped to accelerate the understanding of forests and climate within the UNFCCC and pioneered biodiversity disclosure among corporations worldwide. Andrew has set up Equilibrium Futures, a private consultancy advising and educating the financial sector on redirecting global financial flows towards a climate and nature positive economy. Andrew received the Founders Medal, from the UK's Royal Geographical Society, a Royal Medal approved by King Charles III.
Michelle Ryan Bio
With an 18 year career in Private Banking, both in Jersey and London, Michelle has gained significant technical expertise as well as a comprehensive network of industry connections. She has led teams and projects throughout her various roles and latterly headed the business development function for a large Private Bank across the Channel Islands. Michelle started True, a sustainability business, in 2020 and she brings this experience to her role as Director and Chief Sustainability Officer, partnering with corporate clients on their sustainability journeys.
Michael Newton Bio
Mike is Chief Operating Officer and has responsibility for the leadership, strategic growth and operations of the Jersey business.
Mike has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector, with a strong focus on Private Equity and Venture Capital, most recently as Global Head of Client Operations at a leading international service provider where he was mandated to deliver operational transformation during a significant growth period. Prior to this Mike held senior roles as a Senior Vice President at State Street and Managing Director at EQT, the global private equity and venture capital investment organisation.
Amy King Bio
Amy King is the Chair of IoD Jersey's Sustainability Committee. A seasoned sustainability and strategy management consultant with expertise spanning corporate, non-profit, and policy sectors. Her career includes delivering transformative solutions, such as sustainability governance frameworks, KPIs, and thought leadership articles. Notably, Amy has supported the UNDP/G7 on their sustainability roadmaps and advised on sustainable finance maturity in Arab States. A strong advocate for impact through education, she designed and launched a free program for Jersey’s future sustainability finance leaders.
With leadership roles at Investec Private Bank, UEFA, and Barclays, Amy excels in project management, operational efficiency, and strategic change definition and delivery. She holds an MBA from Warwick Business School, an MSc in Climate Change from Exeter, and a BSc in Environmental Chemistry. Certified in ESG investing and sustainable business, Amy combines her technical and leadership skills to advance sustainable finance innovation globally.
