Jersey Post has announced new pricing for 2025, effective from 28th January, with significant parcel shipping cost reductions:
What's New?
Parcel Price Drops:
- UK: Down by 18%
- On-Island: Down by 12%
- Rest of World: Down by 14%
- Europe: Down by 1%
Letter Pricing Updates:
- Local and UK letters (100g) will now be 80p and £1.35 respectively.
- European letters will see a 7% increase, and Rest of World letters a 1.7% increase.
These changes ensure, that while the volume of letters decline, letter services cover their costs while maintaining the Universal Service Obligation, allowing consistent pricing for posting letters across the island and to the UK five days a week.
Business-Friendly Changes:
- Phasing out green book postage accounts for a smoother online mail declaration process.
- Introducing new volume-related discounts for letters under 100g.
Jersey Post's pricing includes all network, collection, processing, and delivery costs. Despite higher costs on the island, Jersey Post remains committed to paying the living wage to its hardworking postal workers, who deliver to every address on the island five days a week (six for parcels) in all weather conditions.
Why This Matters for Local Businesses
This new pricing structure is a big win for local exporters, aligning with the Jersey Business Export Support Service Group's 2024 goals. These include strengthening export capabilities, supporting established exporters, and lowering entry barriers for new exporters. The reduced shipping costs will make it easier and more affordable for Jersey businesses to compete globally.
